CVWG Exhibit at The Center is Open for Visits

Member-artist Carol Greene sent a report about the opening of CVWG’s two month exhibition at Charlottesville’s The Center.

It was a good day at The Center and all member-artists, but one, who signed up to display dropped off their paintings. Linda Abbey, Linda Verhagan, and Carolyn Ratcliffe were the Guild’s team for hanging the paintings while Windy Payne and I were there to accept and check over each painting to be sure that all the requirements were met. I stayed for the duration to take photos and assist where I could.

The hanging system that The Center has is great but it was somewhat temperamental on some of the paintings, especially the ones that they double hung, and one small, light weight painting just refused to hang straight. In the end, we all just had to laugh and shake our heads over it. Carolyn went behind each hung painting to coil up the ends of the wires and carefully tape them to the backs of the paintings, as well as, helping with getting the labels attached. It was quite a major process and very time consuming.

This was my first time seeing this so I was very impressed and learned a great deal. Kudos to all these ladies for their professionalism, skills and dedication to the CVWG. But we also kept our sense of humor and enjoyed working together.
