This post is (almost) all about reminders for your awareness!

A reminder that our March Challenge! is scheduled:

  • The theme for March is “Hint of Spring“;
    • What is popping up?
    • What is budding out?
  • Send a photo of your creation along with title to CVWG’s Webmaster by the entry deadline this Friday, March 19;
  • Join the “Challenge! by Zoom” meeting next Monday, March 22 where the works will be shared in full-screen and the artists will share their “stories”.
  • All Guild members will get an invitation to the Challenge! by Zoom” meeting that morning.
  • Friends and Followers of our Guild are welcome to show your painting and/or attend our Zoom meeting but you must send an email to our CVWG Webmaster to be included.

As of this post, we only have 2 entries! Let’s get those paintings finished and submitted.

CVWG’s Challenge! program is discussed further on our Challenge! web page.

CVWG’s Exhibit at The Center– New Timing June-July

We’re also taking this opportunity to remind you that CVWG’s exhibit at The Center in Charlottesville is now (re)scheduled for June through July 2021. Member and Past President, Linda Verhagen is leading CVWG’s efforts for this exhibition. Entry for this show is open so contact Linda to enter your work. Our webpage for that exhibit has been updated so please check out that page for latest details.

Call for Entries: JABA Art Show

Our ever astute member Rosemary Connelly saw the notice at the top of this post from the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) about an upcoming virtual art show they are hosting. JABA’s show has an entry deadline of April 23. More information, including a link on submitting your art, can be found at https://www.jabacares.org/jaba-events-calendar/2021/2/24/jabas-art-submission-volunteerism-creating-communities-of-strength.

Member News

Member Don Whitson writes:

I  am honored to receive an Award of Merit in the 2021 Philadelphia Watercolor Society Members Exhibition. Because of Covid-19 it will be online April 1 – June 30. My thanks to Juror Carol Carter for selecting my painting.

Member Peg Sheridan writes:

I just finished teaching a Zoom watercolor class for Beverley Street Studio School. It went really well, and was fun to teach! I had students from as far away as Fairfax County and Richmond. I also taught a workshop on March 6, about using white space in watercolors, for Beverley Street Studio School. On February 3, I taught “Small Splashy Watercolors” at Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro.

I will be Featured Artist at the Shenandoah Valley Art Center (http://www.svacart.com) in Waynesboro for the month of April. The title of the show is “Ebb and Flow”, and will feature plein air landscapes, studio pieces, and some new abstracted landscapes. We hope to have an opening, on April 10.

Peg continues to offer workshops so check out her web page at www.pegsheridan.com/.
